About Us
Innisfail Bearing Supplies was established as a partnership in 1979 by Ted and Bill Seawright in Innisfail - Far North Queensland.
In 1984, utilising Bill's experience as a fitter and turner, they opened up an engineering workshop at the rear of the retail outlet.
1988 saw Innisfail Bearing Supplies design and manufacture their first product which was the Supreme Fruit Picker. This won Bill Seawright the Inventions of the Year Award at the 17th International Exhibition of Inventions at Geneva. It was also in this year that Bill's younger brother, Alex, joined the partnership.
In 1990, Innisfail Bearing Supplies became IBS Engineering Supplies to highlight to the public that they sold hardware and engineering supplies as well as bearings and seals.
The Seawright Family partnership was incorporated in 1993 and the current company was formed. This allowed them to inject more money into research and development of new products.
These included the Safemix Dust Applicator, the Granule Applicator, Hydraulic Pallet Stacker and the very popular Ozzy-400.
In 1995 the company was recognised for original ideas, innovation, enterprise and entrepreneurial flair as well as its contribution to the progress of the local community.
IBS Engineering Supplies has been awarded The Northern Building Society's Award for Excellence, and has also been named one of Queensland’s top 400 privately owned businesses by the Queensland Business Review in both 2006 and 2007.
